Research focus involves studies with unimpaired populations and centers on the processes engaged during on-going sentence comprehension. The LANG’s work thus far has explored:

  • lexical activation during sentence comprehension, including argument structure and meaning;
  • processing sentences that contain lexical and structural ambiguities and
  • the use of prosody and other information during sentence processing.

Cognition

The lab studies the role of various aspects of cognition and their interaction with language function, including:

  • neural underpinnings of cognitive neglect syndromes;
  • effects of working memory impairments on cognitive function and
  • visuo-spatial deficits in hearing and deaf populations.
